Have you ever seen MS Dhoni doing his helicopter shot with a Panerai watch in his hand? I guess you don’t focus on that detail as Panerai does. Well, in case you are not accustomed to the brand, they are a luxury Italian watch manufacturer. The brand was officially founded by Giovanni Panerai in Florence, Italy in 1860. Their products are very exotic. The brand offers watches across four marketing lines Historic, Contemporary, Manifattura, and Special Editions in runs of 500, 1000, 2000, or 4000 units. Each of the editions carries an issue no on the case back. The company issues special editions every year. In 2006, they issued the 1936 California Dial Radiomir special edition. This was a reissue of the first Panerai model presented to the Italian Marina Militare with production limited to 1936 units. They also worked with Ferrari. When the contract between the brand Ferrari and Girard-Perregaux expired in 2005, Ferrari and Panerai entered into a five-year agreement to design, manufacture and distribute Panerai watches carrying the Ferrari trademark. The collection was branded Ferrari engineered by Panerai and consisted of two product lines marketed as “Granturismo” and “Scuderia”. The collection consisted of 11 models priced between US$5,000 and US$30,000.The Panerai-Ferrari partnership ended in 2010. A few of the brand notable models are Panerai Luminor, Panerai Luminor 1950, Panerai Radiomir, Panerai Radiomir 1940, Panerai Luminor Due, Panerai Ferrari, Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950. Going back to the first line, Yes, Ms. Dhoni is their current brand ambassador. Apart from MS Dhoni, there are other athletes who have been in contact with the brand. Currently, they have 2 new models the Luminor GMT – 44 mm (PAM01056) and the Luminor Chrono Flyback – 44 mm (PAM01057). The models have MS Dhoni’s signature on the back of the watch body.
